CSNZ All-Comers Summer Camps   - Kawerau

January          7-9th  2020

This camp offers a fantastic opportunity for everyone to develop their kayaking skills, with the Tarawera River providing options to cater for every level. Along with the great river you can come and enjoy the excellent facilities at Firmin Lodge just a stone's throw away from where we will be training. We invite offers from keen parents to help with food prep  :)  Slalom sessions will be alternated with other fun team building and Whitewater relevant skills development sessions.

Anyone! From beginners to veterans who have an interest in white water adventure and canoe slalom. So if you are fresh out of AIMS, in our novice or 5 star programme or well a seasoned paddler there will be something for you. Our Coaches will be finalised depending on numbers, but will include CSBOP coaches Najib Mazar, Nico L'abat   and Matt McKnight, as well as local white water guru Bruce Weber

Meet 9am on 7th January 2020  at the Adventure Hub Firmin Lodge, Waterhouse Street, Kawerau. The Lodge will be our base for the duration of the camp.

The camp will finish on  9th January 2020 at about 4.30pm.

The camp will cost  $275       S120!!   per paddler incl GST which will include 24 hour care, food and coaching.

This includes GST,   CSNZ 2020 event fees.

To access this special price it will be necessary to join CSNZ in 2020 but under their new structure this will be a very minimal fee

We love parents who can stay and help out  : )   It is $130 for a parent to stay including food  ( this does not come under funding criteria sorry)  unless you are the superstar taking on the food management then you get to stay for free!

Transport to and from Tauranga will be available in the club van on a first come first served basis at a cost of $17 return ( fee the same whether 1 way or 2 way )

As is usual for our summer camps, this is a Canoe Slalom NZ camp. If you aren't already a CSNZ member then will be a nominal fee (TBC)  to join and a waiver to complete.

For those travelling from out of town, it may be possible to utilise Firmin Lodge for accommodation the night before the camp starts.  This would be at an additional cost of $35 per bed and would be on a self-catering (pot-luck) basis.   As it is not a formal part of the camp each child would need a designated responsible adult in attendance.  It would be conditional on having enough people to fulfil the minimum 2 room Firmin Lodge booking criteria ie a minimum of 10 people.   Please indicate on your registration form if you are interested in this option.

NEWS FLASH: We do please require a person (or 2 depending on size of camp) to be the lead food co-ordinator and cook for this camp if there are any willing parents out there??  This person gets to stay for free!

It is preferred that paddlers attend for the whole of the camp but if you let us know if you can't stay for the whole camp and we can make try and make arrangements.

Each participant will be asked to bring some home baking and fruit

Equipment can be provided please let us know on your registration if you would like this option

Numbers will be strictly limited to 40 so book early if you want to be in!

Registration will be required by    Friday 20th December  - No bookings will be taken after this so get in quick!

Please plan ahead.    This is a very busy time of year.  Our camp coordinator and coaches will be on holiday from Xmas until the start of the camp so please decide BEFORE  Xmas if you want to come in January  !!

CANCELLATION POLICY:  As we have to confirm accommodation bookings and food in advance there will be no refunds once bookings close.  Bookings and invoicing will be done on the basis of who is booked at the 27th November .    There is no problem to withdraw a booking prior to that date.

Camp parents are police vetted where possible.  Catering will be done by camp parents on site.  Some parents may be asked to make meals to send along and have their costs reimbursed.

The training camp will include:

  • At least two coached white-water sessions per day;
  • A swim at the local hot pools one evening;
  • Fabulous, hearty, home cooked meals.
  • All snacks included
